MS Dhoni came out to bat at No. 7 for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024 match against the Punjab Kings on Wednesday (May 1), which was played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and scored 14 runs from 11 balls. During his stay at the crease, the former India and CSK captain hammered one four and one six, which helped CSK post a total of 162 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Dhoni arrived at the crease after CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad's (62) dismissal on the fifth ball of the 18th over and scored his first boundary on the first ball of the 20th over, which was bowled by Arshdeep Singh. Dhoni smacked his only six of the match on the second last ball of CSK’s innings, and after the ball crossed the boundary rope to add half a dozen runs to CSK’s tally, former CSK batter Suresh Raina was seen celebrating.
In a video going viral on the internet, Raina, who was doing commentary for Jio Cinema, was seen giving an excited reaction, which has set the internet on fire.

In the match against the Punjab Kings in front of home fans, CSK posted a total of 162 runs on the board for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs, but it didn’t prove to be enough, and Punjab chased it down in 17.5 overs for the loss of three wickets. Jonny Bairstow top-scored for the visitors by amassing a total of 46 runs, and Rilee Rossouw scored 43 runs from 23 balls. Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, and debutant Richard Gleeson picked up one wicket each for the defending champions.
The win on Wednesday was the Punjab Kings’ fifth straight triumph over the Men in Yellow in the IPL, and with eight points, they have now moved to the No. 7 position in the IPL 2024 points table.
