Activists in favor of and against gun control are planning protests and counterprotests in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley Saturday.

Activists in favor of and against gun control are planning protests and counterprotests in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley Saturday.In Bentonville, a "March For Our Lives" rally in favor of gun control is scheduled from noon to 2:30 p.m. on the square. As of Thursday afternoon, more than 350 people say they are attending on the Facebook event. The march is a "sibling march" to a national protest held in Washington, D.C. the same day.Bentonville Police distributed a letter to businesses near the square, telling them about the march and about counterprotests planned by groups in support of the 2nd Amendment. Among these counterprotest groups is the white nationalist organization ShieldWall Network.Not everyone planning to protest against gun control on the square is affiliated with white nationalism. Ian Wilson of Fayetteville told 40/29 he abhors racism and plans to march on the Bentonville Square with friends and family in favor of the 2nd Amendment.A Facebook event for a "March For Our Lives" Rally at the Sebastian County Courthouse at 10 a.m. had 90 people planning to go as of Thursday afternoon. An event at The Shiloh Square in Springdale at 10 a.m. had 15 people planning to attend as of Thursday afternoon.
