An 11-year-old boy has been kicked out of his Scouts den for grilling a senator on gun control.

Ames Mayfield’s mom filmed him asking Colorado senator Vicki Marble several heavy and well-thought out questions during an event on October 9.

At one point he said: ‘I was shocked that you co-sponsored a bill to allow domestic violence offenders to continue to own a gun.’

Ames went on to say: ‘Why on earth would you want somebody who beats their wife to have access to a gun?’

His questions came in the aftermath of the Las Vegas shootings.

Marble defended her stance on gun laws, explaining that she shoots along with her sons.

She replied: ‘We need crime control, and it has been shown that the more guns a society has, the less crime or murders that they have are committed.

‘Look at Chicago. Chicago’s a gun-free zone, but they have more crime and more murders than anywhere else in the United States.’

A few days later, his mom, Lori Mayfield, was asked out to a Chipotle restaurant by a pack leader who wanted to chat about Ame’s questions.

She said: ‘He let me know in so many words that the den leader was upset about the topic of gun control. It was too politically charged.

‘He communicated that my son was no longer welcome back to the den.’

Lori took him out of the den and found another one.

The Scouts did not address Ames getting kicked out of the den in its statement.

It read: ‘The Boy Scouts of America and the Denver Area Council are pleased that the family will continue their participation in Scouting.

‘We are committed to working with families to find local units that best fit their needs.’
