President Myriam Spiteri Debono warmly welcomed on first official Gozo visitPresident Myriam Spiteri Debono together with her husband Dr Anthony Spiteri Debono, visited the island of Gozo on Saturday for her inaugural visit.

The official visit began with a Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu in Gharb, celebrated by the Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Anton Teuma.

In his homily, Bishop Teuma called on the people of Malta and Gozo to come together to move forward in their social, political, human, and Christian lives.

Following the Mass, one of her first engagements was a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument commemorating the Gozitans who lost their lives during the Second World War in Independence Square, Victoria.President Myriam Spiteri Debono warmly welcomed on first official Gozo visitPresident Spiteri Debono also visited the Banca Giuratale where she signed the visitors’ book and received a warm welcome by the public present in Independence Square, including members of the Victoria Scout Group and other young students.

Afterwards, together with the Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri, she visited the Cittadella, where the President had the opportunity to meet with many other people from the island of Gozo.

Afterwards, the President of Malta visited the Gozo Diocese where she was welcomed by the Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Anton Teuma.
